About Bacteriostatic Water
Bacteriostatic Water is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol (9mg/mL) added as a bacteriostatic preservative. In research and laboratory settings, it is the universally preferred diluent utilized to safely reconstitute lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides and complex biological compounds. The addition of benzyl alcohol actively inhibits the growth of bacteria, allowing researchers to make multiple withdrawals from a single vial over an extended period (typically up to 28 days) while strictly maintaining the sterility, stability, and integrity of the test solution.
